Colorado has it all: spectacular mountain vistas, sparkling city life, four-season adventure, and hundreds of terrific festivals. Whatever your interest — food, wine, music, or just family-friendly fun — you can bet that Colorado has a festival you’ll want to put on your bucket list.

Here are some of our favorite Colorado festivals:

The Greeley Stampede

Calling all cowpokes: Located one hour north of Denver, the Stampede has long been one of Colorado’s biggest summer festivals, dating back to the old-timey, cattle-roping, gold-chasing 1800s. If you and your crew love all things Western and country music, this is the place for you. There are big-name acts (think The Band Perry), a demolition derby, and plenty of rodeo fun like PRCA Xtreme bull-riding. The festivities are free of charge for the most part (another bonus, especially for big families!), but a few events do require paid admission. The Stampede is held annually for a week and a half in late June to early July — making it a great option for a Fourth of July road trip.

Country Jam Colorado

This three-day country music festival takes place every year in June in Grand Junction’s rugged red-rock terrain. You’ll enjoy more than 20 terrific bands on two different stages and all the craft brew, delicious food, and mechanical bull riding you’ve ever dreamed of. This year’s lineup includes big hitters like Jelly Roll, Thomas Rhett, The Bellamy Brothers, Meg Mcree, and Dalton Dover. There’s even a VIP package if you’re looking to upgrade your experience. Bonus: Country Jam offers all kinds of camping options, from RV parking to glamping. (You can even rent a portable potty for your site.)

Taste of Fort Collins

June in Fort Collins means the city’s Old Town comes alive with terrific live music (like the All-American Rejects and Lil Jon), dancing, and some of the very best food Colorado has to offer. Foodies from all over the country arrive with empty stomachs to indulge in delectable offerings like killer BBQ, Mexican specialties, amazing pizza, and Spanish paella, just for starters. Colorado craft brews and local wines are also plentiful at The Taste of Fort Collins, and the array of sweet treats will knock you out.

Telluride Bluegrass Festival

The Telluride Bluegrass Festival happens every June and draws music fans from all around the world. And it’s not just bluegrass: The festival features acts like Mumford & Sons, Elvis Costello, and Kacey Musgraves. Kick back and enjoy four days of fantastic performances, great food, and Colorado summer vibes.

Manitou Springs Colorado Wine Festival

Each June, this festival highlights Colorado’s wineries with wines from more than 30 local winemakers. The wine is delicious, and the food is top-notch, too, so you’d better show up thirsty and hungry. Plus: The mountain views of Manitou Springs (and its darling downtown) are unbeatable.

Moffat County Balloon Festival

Photographers flock to the Moffat County Balloon Festival in Craig each August to capture the stunning surroundings. Huge globes of every hue rise each morning over lakes and mountains, delighting festival-goers (and Instagrammers). There’s also plenty of activities and entertainment to keep things fun on the ground below, too.
